Babies in the Workplace
Babies Love Physical Contact
Babies in the workplace tend to be held a great deal in carriers or on parent or coworker laps, which results in highly contented babies.  Babies are generally happiest when they are in physical contact with another person because they feel safe and secure (as well as because they can more easily see and interact with their surroundings).  Studies have shown that there is a direct relationship between holding and baby crying--babies who are held more cry far less.  Extensive physical contact and proximity to other people is a major reason that babies at work tend to be so "unusually" happy compared to the stereotypical unhappy baby in our culture.
Babies Love Social Interaction
Babies are highly social even from birth, they crave human interaction, and they are highly motivated to learn.  Their favorite activity is looking at other people's faces, and they are learning language even before birth.  Babies in the workplace have the opportunity to see and interact with a variety of people, in addition to their parents, which results in their needs being met for intellectual stimulation and in them being very happy as a result.
