Benefits for
Families (p. 6)
Babies in the Workplace
Enables Starting a Family Earlier
Professional women sometimes postpone having children because they are concerned about possible damage to their career opportunities and professional reputation if they take extended time off work after having a baby.  Babies-at-work programs (and parenting-at-work programs involving older children) give women (and men) more options for continuing their professional lives and starting a family.
Fathers More Involved With Babies
Babies-at-work programs enable working fathers to have more options for spending extensive time with and bonding with their babies, as well as developing competence and confidence in their own abilities to care for and nurture their children.  These programs also give men without children the opportunity to gain experience with babies, which will increase their skills and parental involvement if they eventually have their own children.  Many companies with baby programs have noticed that single men often become very attached to the babies and enjoy the opportunity to try their hand at holding and cuddling the babies.
