Babies in the Workplace
My name is Carla Moquin.  I founded the Parenting in the Workplace Institute in December 2007 to provide resources and education related to parenting at work programs.  We are initially focusing on babies at work programs but plan to eventually expand our work to include parenting-at-work programs involving school-age children (and potentially those in the interim age range, although toddlers present much more complicated issues for a work environment than do non-mobile babies and school-age kids).  Programs involving school-age children are also highly successful when they are structured well and those programs offer similar benefits for businesses as do babies-at-work programs.

I have written two books about babies-at-work programs.
Babies at Work: Bringing New Life to the Workplace presents a comprehensive picture of the transformation of the workplace that occurs when babies come to work.  It incorporates analysis of how and why these programs work, along with dozens of quotes from executives, managers, coworkers, and parents.  How to Start a Babies-at-Work Program is a step-by-step guide to proposing and implementing a baby program.  Both of these books are designed (along with the template policy which is downloadable for free from the Institute website) to provide everything necessary to create a successful, sustainable babies-at-work program.

I live in Massachusetts, am raising two young daughters, and am amicably divorced.  I
welcome suggestions and ideas for expanding our work and for additions to this site.
